Bruce was really disappointed to be missing the beets. NOT!

Recipe:
Plant beet seeds in winter.
As they grow, harvest greens to add to salad.
When the pink produce pops out of the ground, harvest.
Boil for one hour; skin will slide right off.
Cube and grill with butter, salt, and pepper.
Enjoy!

It even gets the house smelling like borscht. Yep, Bruce is really missing out…

"The beet is the most intense of vegetables. The radish, admittedly, is more feverish, but the fire of the radish is a cold fire, the fire of discontent, not of passion. Tomatoes are lusty enough, yet there runs through tomatoes an undercurrent of frivolity. Beets are deadly serious."

I have to side with Bruce on this one :) Not a beet fan myself.
