Headed to a talk at the Archnitectural Society tonight about building the new fire station in Bellevue.

I learned a lot about the topic:

Fire stations are big loud buildings that neighbors don't love being near.

There are 15 people at the station for each shift.

The fire pole has to be locked up, the doors unlock where there is an emergency call.

There are drive through bays so they don't have to back up the big engines.

There are decontamination areas to strip of gear and shower all the possibly hazardous stuff off.

The guys requested a gas BBQ for cooking.

There is a big fitness center on site, that makes sense.

The site collects rainwater to use for the truck wash.

The building is prepared for EV charging.  Hard to wrap my brain around how much power it takes to charge a big fire engine.

Our Sabbath outing was to Costco today.  It is much easier to handle when vieweing it as a slow adventure rather than as a efficinet errand.

Walking to the office as the clock moves from 6 to 7am, the sun is already shining, the air is still cool, things are calm... for the moment!

Bruce has been messing around with his new camera drone.  I don't like the noise and stress of drones, but gotta admit it provides an interesting perspective.

We went blackberry picking today.  This weekend feels like a throwback to the 80's with Seafair and blackberries.

Seafair!  We paid a little extra to get seats in the bleachers this year.  Worth it!  This photo was right before about 16 army boys jumped out of a Blackhawk helicopter into Lake Washington.

Meet Molly.  One of Woodland Park Zoo's 60 ambassador animals.  We learned a lot about porcupines at the Allied family BBQ.

Molly has had six babies, her daughter is also an ambassador, who is way less picky with her snacks than Molly.

It's August, who put a artistically graffiti'd shipping container in my Occidental Park square?
