Anastasia gets the award for being out and about the longest this evening.  Xander stayed holed up in his room, Bruce and I had a meeting and coffee date, and Anastasia went to the high school production of Frankenstein.

She’s showing off her new iTouch case.  Bruce was telling us the origins of the Keep Calm and Carry On catch phrase which is so popular nowadays.  The inspirational slogan originally appeared on a World War II-era British poster, intended to strengthen morale in the event of a large-scale attack or occupation.  More than million of these posters were originally commissioned. Most were destroyed, but a poster resurfaced in 2000, the message was shared online, and the rest is history.

Woo-hoo, the guys Lands End order arrived.  They now have rashguards for the summer Colorado rafting trip.  Sunglasses, check.  Clothes, check.  Need loads of sunscreen and more reservations… hard to think sun when it’s been so cold and dreary.

Tonight we went on an adventure with the trailer.  Sandi has needed a couch for awhile, and last night I got an e-mail about a couch trying to find a new home, wondering if anyone on the adopted block needed it.  Perfect!

The couch lives four driveways past the yellow cat on a stump in the far reaches of winding Longview roads.  Not so fun with the trailer.

In town Bruce can drive forward in circles until he gets where he wants to be.  I warned the guy that we don't back the trailer up. We’re unconventional, walking it down the driveway, but get the job done… eventually.

Bruce decided it was time for a family photo, and I am always wanting family photos.  Of course there’s not a shot where all four of us look great.  So I get to pick.  There’s a glare on my glasses and an angel coming out of Xander’s head, but such is life…

Today Anastasia, Sasha, and I did a two hour Zumba-thon to support a thespian fundraiser.  My first Zumba experience.  I’m not very coordinated and not a very good dancer, but the instructors did a great job of making it low stress and fun.

Here we are – Judy, Tracy, Carolyn, and me.  Day 2 of scrapbooking, minus some time to do some church activities.  I didn’t get two albums completed as I had hoped, but got way more done than I did at home, and got to eat myself silly besides.

TGIF!

This weekend I'm scrapbook retreating.  Almost got my Move More Eat Well acrylic album completed.

Time to rest up for another productive day tomorrow...

There he goes, with the munchies again.  The bread in the house is gone (he doesn’t realize there is more out in the garage freezer) so he is eating thin burger buns with peanut butter.  I wish I had the teenage metabolism!

Look who’s designing her own shoes.  She added glitter and artwork to her TOMS knock-offs after school.

I liked the colors in the sky today, and especially at sunset, so I shoo’d Xander outdoors for a few photos.

Another evening of Bruce and I scattering in different directions…

I had a pretty good day, but looks like our poor Amaryllis didn’t… not sure why it’s so down in the dumps.  Hopefully it will keep fighting.

Sitting down to an early dinner of corned beef and cabbage with Grama & Grampa – early in the day and early in the St. Patrick's Day season, but it works.  Yum!

Laughs, newspaper articles, and Mexican train…

My day started and ended with church.  With a lot of heads down checking items off the to do list in between.  A nap would have been nice, but getting caught up on my life was better.  Great conversations at the women’s breakfast, and great attendance, praise music,  and reminders at the evening church service.

Guess where we went tonight?

Last time we were at a Winterhawks game, Bruce won tickets to a second hockey game.  Tonight he got pelted with a rolled up t-shirt flying from a t-shirt gun.  Such luck!

Happy Friday!

We toted the camera for Valentine’s day plans, but forgot to take any photos.  So here we are after a stuffed belly, great time with friends, and supporting a good cause too.  Happy day!

Thought I better post a photo of my new watch, because I probably won’t have it very long.

I ordered it form an artist in Germany via etsy. It wraps around with red and green leather cords.  We had a lot of conversation about my wrist size, but something got lost in the translation, because it didn’t fit.  A co-worker helped me redesign it to be magnetic clasp instead of the clasp I couldn’t do one handed.  Bruce helped me get the wrist size right and got a battery that worked.

I really like it, but it comes loose a lot, so I’m guessing I’ll lose it.  But I’ll enjoy it until I do…

Artistic or goofy, you decide.

Computer time.  TV time.  Computer and TV time.  I'm jealous.  She got a dozen donuts form her boyfriend today too.  Double jealous.

Happy Tuesday; the calm before the end of the week hub-bub.

Our day started with news that Bruce had made the news.  We knew it was coming and were holding our breath that it would be positive and accurate; being at the mercy of reporters can be unnerving.

I hear a lot about the real estate rebound at work (wood products is heavily tied to real estate), in my professional organizations (real estate speculation in the financial realm), and now it's here at home too!

Fischer Family Adventure Day!

We rented snowshoes and headed up to Mt St Helens again, like last winter.  It was fun to clomp around on the cross country ski trails for a few miles.  There were snow ball fights, icicle gathering, and snow mobile avoiding.

Feels good to go out and do something…

Today got away from me, didn’t get nearly enough done.

Part of the reason is that I wasn’t expecting to spend several hours at the pool again.  Xander ended up making it to districts with the relay team.  It was a fun meet to watch, with some really great athletes and the odd stuffed platypus cheering and posing with the swimmers.  Several of the boys were kids we knew when we lived in Aberdeen, that was strange seeing them 9 years older.

Xander swam on two relay teams which came in fourth and sixth place.  And now swim is truly over, because only the top three go to state. I’m proud that Xander stuck through it, especially this last week that we wasn’t at all enthused about.

Finally make it to a Friday night, what do you do?  Go back to work?!?  Bruce did!  We had some errands to run, a coffee date to enjoy, and Bruce needed to look up some info and turn off the heat at the office, so Xander and I got to look around.

Happy Friday!

Look who ate so much at the spaghetti carb loading dinner tonight that he just wants to lay in bed?  Districts start tomorrow for boys swim…

Hail to the funnel cake king!  He can make them with one hand and eat them with the other.

Xander made the second and final batch of funnel cakes tonight.  A lesson in fried food, a box out of our nook, and a fun snack.

Tonight kicked off Relay for Life 2013.  I went to the meeting feeling pretty lackluster about another year (I got to stand up as relaying for ten to 20 years), but left energized.

We had super hero capes, glo sticks, inspirational stories, and a silly song.  So why do I relay?  For my dad, for survivors I know, for my co-workers, and to not be the one out of 3 women to face cancer in their lifetime.

I enjoy discovering that companies I know and love are Washington-based… Redfin, Zillow, Coinstar (Red Box), and today I discovered that Zulily is local!  And growing really fast…

Zulily doesn’t have men’s clothes, so somebody had to go to a brick and mortar store to get some more work duds today…

Superbowl advertising is effective.

On the way home from a Superbowl party with plenty of food, the guys stopped at Jack in the Box to check out the new Hot Mess burgers and fries.

I’m happy to miss it all…

Happy groundhogs day!  Warm enough to walk to church this evening.  Weird jumbled up day – woke up early and started working on taxes, watched Anastasia at her solo ensemble, yummy chocolate hazelnut shake at lunch, afternoon nap, help Xander make funnel cake… a whole lot of not much, but good day.

Today is National Go Red day.

My co-workers forgot.  My family didn’t care.  Luckily red is a plentiful color in my wardrobe.

I stand against cancer, diabetes, and heart disease – in moving more, in trying to make better food choices, and in my red clothes today.
