OKC is fun.  It has a ton of freeways, but at least when we were there not many cars.  It is a very clean city, geared toward tourism.  The Riverwalk area is very reminiscent of San Antonio, we did the water taxi tour and got a great view of the really fabulous Land Run monument.

But Sunday morning we had a rare chance to slow down and enjoy our truly unique boutique 21c museum hotel rooms and grounds.  I finally figured out that 21c is for 21 century, all modern art.

From there it was off to a few murals and photo ops, brunch, and airport farewells.

Onward to Oklahoma City!

But first, stops at the giant blue whale, the cave house, an art museum, rainbow bridge, and a soda pop rest stop.  The Castooga whale was a gift from an entrepreneur to his wife, the swimming hole was manmade.  So many people stopped, seeing it from Route 66, that he turned it into an attraction in the 1970's for $1600, adding restrooms, picnic tables, and a snack bar.  It had sanitary water, diving boards and working slides back in its day.

Two shutterbugs on one trip makes for plenty of fun photos.  Joan had climbed up to the old diving platform and she captured me capturing her.  Since I love to take photos of people taking photos, we had several of these multi-perspective views.

LONG driving day.  Started in Missouri, went through lovely Kansas, and ended just barely into Oklahoma.  Kansas is the shortest stretch of Route 66, but it is my favorite.  They are embracing the Cars movie tie ins, they had Route 66 shields on the ground we could pose with (I chose not to sit in the actual highway, even thought the roads are crazy empty!), and their signage of the historic route was spectacular.

We giggled our way through our stop at Uranus fudge factory.  The wonderful shopkeeper at the huge rocking chair encouraged us to pay for the curiosity museum, but all the two headed things (sone still alive) was disturbing.  But the puns were great, we were laughing our butts off.

Welcome to Uranus!

Thank you for picking Uranus!

You pay in the rear.

Another highlight of the Route 66 trip was the little town of Cuba, MO.  For starters, once we got to the motel, we parked the car and I was done driving for the day, hurray!  The restaurant was next door, the murals were down the road a short walk.  The historic Wagon Wheel motel (featured in the Cars movie) had thin walls and a very crazy lock, but it was adorable inside and out.  There was an outdoor seating area and we met other travelers.  We talked to sisters for a long time and saw them again the next day, although their schedule is a day behind Joan.  Bonus, saw fireflies for the first time!

It’s odd to have the highlight of a trip be the very first thing.  Like, quick check in to hotel and hightail it over to the arch to make a timed tour.  I’ve always wanted to go up to the top of the Gateway Arch.  It was a bit scarier than I expected (getting up there, not being up there), but it was great views and it was super fun to be there close to sunset when the lighting was fabulous for photos.  This was taken from the steamboat tour on the Mississippi River.  Great first day!

My new favorite spot.  Can't walk a lot but still want to do something, so walk to Amazonland and sit in their comfy and fun lawn chairs in the fake turf and people watch. Mom and I did it Monday and Bruce and I did it tonight.

And my computer isn't any happier that it's Monday than I am.  I have about 10 power cords, just keep rotating through the pile in hopes of this persistent message stopping...

Happy anniversary to us, 29 years...

Pretty low key day, the adventure was church on the beach at Golden Gardens.

I didn't take any photos, but luckily we have paparazzi at church!  There was another unflattering photo, but I like the artistic flair of this one, and pastor Brice on the right.

When we booked the all day whale watching trip, didn't realize we would leave the dock at 8:30am and get back at 8:30pm!  Luckily Jacob and I did not get very seasick, it was a very fun day and we were blessed to see both humpback and orca whales!!!!

I'm a bit grounded, missing my dog and kid daycare walks, my banana runs.  I did hobble down to Harbor Steps at lunch to listen to the concert for awhile.  TGIF!

 So this happened.

My medical team has a new term for the flare ups of iflamation I am seeing - skin eruptions.  They suspect it is related to the vaccine, but it is time to get to the cause since it is becoming more and more problematic.

Biopsy today, toe did not appreciate the walk home.

First day back in the office!  Volunteering to work in Pioneer Square one day a week until September when we all go to twice a week.  I knew it would be exhausting, but it it was a rough day.  My big accomplishment was getting a skyline coffee art screensaver on my huge monitors.

Our rooftop pot caught my attnetion,t he bright colors against the cloudy sky.

A resident was complaining about the weather in the elevator.  Those that haven't lived in Seattle for years don't realize that summer weather is iffy and our summer weather comes in the fall.  And it is burning off to hot each afternoon, so stop yo9ur complaining!

Haven't tsken many photos, harder to photograph the daily routine.  Getting up for coffee and going to bed with a book are two of my favorite things, so here goes.  We keep joking at work that this week is the fastest and slowest ever - fast because it is short and busy, long because we got used to more sleep over the four day weekend.

Happy 4th of July!

We finally had the opportunity to join one of WeHeartSeattle's litter picks.  We cleaned up an abandoned homlessness encampment.

Andrea estimates we bagged up 4,000 pounds of trash in two hours and hundreds of used needles.  We can vouch for the needles!  And shoes and clothes and dominoes and toothbrushes and batteries and glow sticks and all kinds of interesting things.  We made a dent, but this site on Queen Anne is scheduled to be worked several times this summer.

Four day weekend!  I tore down my WFH desk and went to the market to put a boquet of flowers on the reclaimed table.  This little girl was enthralled with these artists in cat masks.

I don't know how to photograph oppressive heat and decided to take a little break, since everything was off kilter.  But now it's July.  Bring on summer!  Maybe with less heat...
