I walk into the kitchen this evening and the burner is red hot with a plastic container full of frozen fruit juice melting into the stove.

Are you kidding me?!? Just when you think they know some stuff, they pull a stunt like this.
The smell, the smoke, the remaining mess… there really is an easier way to make a slushy.
