$10 to take a peek at a costume sale jointly put on by four theater groups.  It was probably pretty picked over, and it was interesting to see what was in the arms of other shoppers, but there was still a ton to wade through and try to think about.  So many people were talking halloween costumes, by imagination was not firing well.  I did get a few things, let's see if I can pull them into cohesive costumes.

Leftovers from small group.  We thought Laura was calling it Saudi Cake, but it is Salty Cake.  As in, savory oat cake, full of vegetables and spices.  Yum!

This book, our family book club pick for this month, is pulling me right in.  Both of the duel storylines are really engaging, and it is set on the trail I had hoped to visit in 2022.  Now I am planning a longer post-retirement stroll there.

Michelle, one of my teammaters on my previous project, celebrated 40 years with Weyerhaeuser last year.  We finally celebrated rooftop today.  Michael walking through her long career starting with a deli role, and Michelle on the right closest to him.

Seattle Spymphony is sure hyping their new director, Xian.  There are posters all over, including sidewalk stickers.  Must be fun for her to see herself larger than life.  Looking forward to seeing her energy and innovation.

 Look who's home from Disneyworld!  We got to pick them up at the airport and entertain Poppy for a bit.

 When the aquarium contacted us about a members only otter talk, I said heck yeah!

What I learned or relearned about sea otters:

They have no blubber, so need to eat a lot (25% of body weight daily) to keep warm.

Their very thick fur acts as a dry suit, their skin does not get wet.

They were hunted to extinction in WA and OR for their pelts.

They were reintroduced from Alaska in the late 60’s.

In the next 5-10 years there are hopes to reintroduce otters to the Oregon coast again.

Otters are homebodies, they rarely travel more than 6 miles from home.

Otter moms are pregnant for six months, take care of a pup for six months, every year.

Otters eat things that eat kelp, keeping kelp beds healthy.

Kelp beds help regulate warming oceans.  Otters play a big role in helping climate change.

We had Poppy from about 9:30am to 3pm today, hooray for long grandparent days!  Church was a little overwhelming with people doting over her, but she was a trooper for awhile.
