 Day 2 of calorie counting is better all the way around.

Last time I counted calories, back when I lived in Longview, I was burning 1800 calories a day before I did extra excercise.  No more.  As I get older my calorie burn has really slowed down and I can't just excercise more to make up deficits.

Back to counting calories today, hoping to get more progress.  Not a great day 1, but it is a holiday and I did have a slice of Pineapple Sideways Cake for Grampa's birthday celebration.

A quiet day of chores, but we did check out the Boat, a restuarant with a very limitted menu.  I tried the pandan tea.  Google describes pandan as a grassy vanilla with a hint of coconut.

 Twelve mile urban hike today, from downtown to the Ballard Locks and back.  Most of the route was pretty urban, but crossing these railroad tracks felt like we were not right in the middle of the city.

Memorial Day weekend is my official start of summer.  We are ringing in the long wekeend with a church BBQ at someone else's rooftop venue.

Whee!  Amazon put big spinning things up on one of their lawns, and all the big kids are suddenly acting like little kids!

The HVAC is completely taken for granted until it stops working.  There was a failure that brought down the system of about four apartments, we had to sweat it out as they made repairs.  With wall to wall windows there is no way to stop the apartment from warming up.

Felt like a busy day with Windermere Cup in the morning and family stuff in the evening. We got to see Molly perform in her high school production of Legally Blonde.

I can relate to this cow puppet.  It can't sit up straight very well, but I feel all hunched over and defeated like this cute cow.  Sometimes life is harder, weighed down with all kinds of things.  This week, maybe low sleep.

I've been weeding things out recently.  It isn't easy.  Even if something has not been used and will likely not be used, it is diffficult to part ways.  These adorable boxes fit in that category.  I don't need them, they take up space, but they make me happy.

Tonight was strength training, the first time using the WHOOP app for a workout.  First time I've worked up a sweat lifting too.
