As soon as we walked into Barnes Foundation, we knew it was a different kind of art museum.  The works weren't arranged by time period, artist, theme, anything.  And there were a lot of works close together with a lot of extra hardware.  It was an interesting afternoon.  Anastasia liked trying to find a bird in each room.

Our adventure begins, and one of the highlights is what we started calling mason jar salads.  Our layover in Chicigo was less than an hour.  We needed to use the restroom, find the gate, and get dinner.  Lucky for us there was a vending machine of fresh food right between the restroom and gate.  Score!

After walking by this restuarant for years, we finally ate there.  There was no wait staff but they let us sit there to eat it, so odd.  Tasty, but probably not adding to our regular haunts.

Paid a visit to Coffee Creek Correctional Facility today to meet Tanuia.  It was pouring rain and it was difficult getting through security, but we had a lovely visit.

A bunch of people warned us about downtown Portland.  We saw a lot of tents, but otherwise it was so much nicer in PDX than in Seattle.  Less plywood.  Less empty retail.  Less homeless in obvious trauma.  We never got asked for money.  Makes Seattle seem a lot more depressing.

We had a donut themed long weekend in Portland.  We intended to find the new to us donut shops, but we just kinda stumbled upon them.  NOLA had great donuts but I also loved the New Orleans vibe.

We saw Black Violin in concert tonight.  Pretty fun, enjoyed the merging of classical and hip hop.

Took a little longer walk today to photograph the 4-star store and get a banana.

I'm pretty sad that the store will be closing.  Didn't buy a ton there, but liked to touch and feel things and get ideas.

It's too windy to see my newly colored hair and it is too bright to see the sunset, but such a pretty walk home from the salon tonight.  Living in Seattle isn't always so rough.
