The morning after, assessing the damage of the civil unrest we heard very late into the night. So many broken windows, so much graffiti. And now today very little is open downtown.

From rally to rioting and looting.
Emotions are running high after more police brutality, this time in Minneapolis. Thousands gathered at Westlake Park, despite rain and COVID. We heard a great speech. I could relate to being a comfortable white American at home on the computer while blacks are working on the front lines to maintain my standard of living. But I could also relate to being a white ally, using my white privilege to push change. #SOCIALJUSTICE
As we were walking away from the gathering we started hearing flash bangs and seeing big clouds of tear gas. Bruce couldn't stand to not circle back to see the action. I saw some early distruction to a Starbucks window and police vehicles vandalized until I couldn't be around any longer. Bruce stuck around to see the vehicle fires, looting, and city wide curfew.

What a great way to start the weekend, with dessert on the roof! We did an evening walk in First Hill and landed at Pie Bar.

Wandering around, trying to find some uninhabited space to walk, and still exploring the city that we love.

Five goons. Today Fischer Five spent the morning playing World of Warcraft, with a four and a half group cell phone call. Happy long weekend!

Not the most dramatic black sky of the day, but still gloomy. Weather took a turn, must be Memorial Day weekend!

Our church is delivering Joy boxes to schools to hand out to kids. They have snacks, activities, and supplies to convert the box to a small ping pong table.
It was a blast to have a reason to shop at Oriental Trading Company again.

There's a perception that downtown has been taken over by the homeless. I think it is just shifting.
Two years ago we never would have felt comfortable walking under I-5 near Pioneer Square. Today it was pleasant to slow down and enjoy the art.

We got a front row seat to a impaired homeless person getting on the roof of a 14 story building, stripping naked, and being escorted down by Seattle's finest.

Another week behind us. This one feels long and short all at the same time. Here's my connection to the outside work world.

Vik picks trivia. We pre registered on ActiveBuilding, Viktoria delivered huge snack packs to our door, we logged onto Google Hangouts, Kevin led us through a Jeopardy style game, Bruce knew most of the answers, we won, wine and more snacks landed at our door. Fun evening!

Survvior finale. I predicted that Natalie would get back on the island and win, but I was only half right. Stayed up WAY past my bedtime! Jeff Probst filming from his garage was different.

My new desk location is great except for one flaw- when we turn the air on it blasts right toward me.

We rearranged out furniture again. The couch is where my chair belongs. The goal is keeping a wide open space for playing VR, and to get my desk somwhere without too much glare.

Happy Mother's Day! Tech filled day... I had church, then a Zoom call with Mom, then trivia with the kids, then Mom and I both listened to the Ten Grands telecast. Nice quiet day.

We
"snuck" on the roof to watch the flyover this afternoon. Two Boeing C-17 Globemaster
cargo jets flew over western Washington to honor healthcare workers.
